The promotion of character education in schools came as a result of a study done by Josephson Institute in 1998 where school violence was on the rise. It was determined that social skills as well as academics should be taught in school.
Character Counts, the nations largest character education program in the country was founded by Michael Josephson ( Josephson Institute). I chose to partner with this organization and make my primary focus, the SIX pillars of character. They are: Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
