Avery implemented her character education program through team event sports. Good character and good sportsmanship go hand in hand. At Phenix City's Girls Softball League, where there were 19 teams, each coach chose a girl who had shown good character and who was the most improved player. They wrote a brief explanation of why they were chosen, based on the Six pillars of character, and at the end of the season, she presented each of them with a "Good Character, Most Improved Certificate" |

Avery held a "Character Camp" for all the rising stars that participated at Miss Alabama this year. The rising stars brought different supplies for the troops to make care packages for them and learned about Building Character and Good Self Esteem. Below are the rising stars pictured with Avery at "Character Camp". When Avery returned from Miss Alabama she arranged to deliver the care packages to the Ft. Benning Army Base with the rising stars that could attend. To see more pictures from "Character Camp" click HERE. |
